Local Activities
Some of the numerous activities that members enjoy are hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, canoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, mountain biking, and just plain relaxing at the Berghaus around the large romantic fireplace.
Winter at the Berghaus
The Continental Club is situated at mid-mountain on Summit East, part of the Summit at Snoqualmie's six base areas. This location makes the Berghaus a unique ski-in, ski-out facility. From the windows of the main lodge, one can view the skiers and snowboarders as they ride downhill only feet from the lodge.
The Summit at Snoqualmie offers the most night skiing/riding acreage in the United States. Considered one of the best areas to learn how to ski or ride, the Summit has a vast variety of terrain that accommodates all abilities and disciplines.
The ski area at Hyak offers consistent fall line terrain, some really nice glade runs and the Nordic Center's 50 kilometers of skate and classic groomed trails if your brand of escape is a bit less rushed. Listed in Fodors as among the ten most scenic cross-country destinations.
Summit East is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, allowing all that snow to pile up during the week.
Winter Shuttle Bus
On weekends and holidays, three to four shuttles circle every 15-20 minutes to all the base areas in operation. This means you can ski down from the Berghaus to the base area at Hyak and hop on a shuttle that conveniently drops you off at the other areas. Ride all day then take the shuttle back to Hyak and hop on the chairlift that drops you off next to the Berghaus. Be aware of when the lift closes, otherwise you will have to hike up the hill.
Summer at the Berghaus
With over 35 miles of trails above the Berghaus, it is easy to find some of the best mountain biking Washington State has to offer. Although The Summit has hosted NORBA and World Cup downhill races, the trail system includes runs for every ability including winding and wide-open single track taking you through the beautiful scenery of the Cascade Mountains and the alpine lakes. Don't forget about the single track and the cross-country trails, taking you through the beautiful scenery of the Cascade Mountains and the alpine lakes.
Many hikers and sightseers enjoy the panoramic vistas, wildflowers and amazing sunsets that await you at the top of the mountains above Hyak. The scenic Pacific Crest Trail, Mount Catherine and many other breathtaking overlooks are also easily accessible from the extensive trail systems that circle the mountaintops around Snoqualmie Pass.
