More than just a ski club, the Berghaus is a vibrant, member-run community of individuals and families who love the outdoors. With a rich history of bringing people together from around the world, we foster lifelong friendships and a deep connection with nature through skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, biking, and more.
The Berghaus operates similar to a cooperative, built on a do-it-yourself spirit. All of our members volunteer by taking on jobs and special projects, attending work parties, and helping maintain the club. Together, we create a welcoming, well-maintained space for all to enjoy.
The Berghaus features two lodges:
A main lodge with a communal kitchen, spacious and relaxing common areas, and gear storage.
A separate sleeping lodge with 15 bedrooms (each accommodating 2–8 people) and 4 bathrooms. The lodges are connected by a tunnel for easy access in winter.
While there is no on-site parking during the winter, a drop-off area is just a 5-minute walk from the club, with overnight parking in the lower Hyak lot.
Members enjoy year-round, 24/7 access to the Berghaus, with a few exceptions during private summer rentals. These rentals help keep dues affordable and support ongoing club maintenance. Members also have access to shared ski and snowboard storage, plus personal lockers for pantry items, bedding, and toiletries. This makes it easy to visit without packing everything each time.
With no paid staff, all Berghaus members participate in the work of the club. We look for members who enjoy pitching in and actively look for ways to make the club even better.
Participation requirements:
Attend at least one work party per year.
Take on a job to help maintain the club.
Serve as Member-On-Duty (MOD) for one winter weekend per year to ensure the club is opened, closed, and cared for properly.
